Why It Matters

More than a calendar moment.

Nov 13–19the week before TDOR.
7 daysof education leading into the day of remembrance.
5%of young adults in the U.S. identify as trans or nonbinary (Pew Research Center, 2022).

Trans Awareness Week falls in the seven days leading up to Trans Day of Remembrance on November 20, and the framing is deliberate: education first, mourning at the end. GLAAD and the National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE) both publish curricula specifically for this week, designed to walk colleagues through trans-inclusive language, policy, and history without putting trans employees themselves on a panel.

The strongest weeks pair company-wide education with a smaller, members-only gathering for trans and non-binary colleagues. The education side belongs to paid trans facilitators — not internal trans employees doing free labor — so the people the week is supposedly for aren't the ones carrying it. The members-only side is what actually builds community: a closed space to connect, decompress, and decide together what they want the week to feel like.

What Not To Do

The Trans Awareness Week pitfalls.

What sinks Trans Awareness Week programming isn't usually a missing speaker — it's a misread of the moment. The three misses worth naming out loud.

01

Mixing the tone with TDOR.

Awareness Week is education. TDOR is mourning. Plan them as two distinct moments.

02

Trans 101 with no trans facilitator.

If a cis facilitator runs trans education, your trans employees will notice. Hire trans facilitators.

03

No space for trans members themselves.

If every event is performed for the broader company, trans colleagues never get to gather as a group. Hold a members-only space alongside the public programming.

Empowering Trans Youth: HubSpot’s “Trans and Thriving” Employability Workshop

Empowering Trans Youth: HubSpot’s “Trans and Thriving” Employability Workshop

HubSpot proudly wrapped up Transgender Awareness Week (November 19, 2025) with the successful execution of our initiative: "Trans and Thriving: An Employability Workshop for Trans Youth!"This project stemmed from a crucial observation—the significant support gaps for transitioning youth entering the job market. Our mission was clear: empower these young adults to optimize their resumes and present themselves confidently in the professional sphere. We strategically partnered with Rain K., founder of TransgenderSG, who provided essential corporate content. My contribution focused on crucial professional navigation skills: setting realistic expectations and equipping participants with strategies for handling deeply personal questions with confidence and professionalism.A huge thank you to Andee Chua 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️, who was instrumental in mobilizing a diverse, supportive cohort of HubSpot recruiters and non-recruiters to serve as essential mentors. The workshop met real-world challenges head-on, covering:- Addressing biased questions and misgendering.- Legal requirements and prioritizing transgender health.- Mastering the balance between authenticity and professionalism. Our powerful core message was that success is defined purely by skill set, education, and the value brought to an organization. It is a source of immense pride that HubSpot was able to provide this platform, enabling these young adults to gain clarity, alleviate doubts, and realize their true potential. We concluded the event with dinner and socializing. Seeing the happy smiles, receiving positive responses and promises of continued engagement confirmed the deep reach of our work— addressing nagging worries and doubts deep in their hearts. As I conclude my second year as the ERG Leader for the LGBTQ+ Alliance JAPAC, I extend my deepest gratitude to the ERG Team members and my dedicated QTC team. Your unwavering support allowed me to commit time to this critical project beyond my core duties. It was truly an honor to serve both the community and our HubSpotters. This experience marks a profound and positive close to 2025, and I am committed to continuing this work of building bridges and fostering understanding.hashtag#TransgenderAwarenessWeek hashtag#Employability hashtag#communitybuilding
